Night Float

So you're going to see fewer posts for me in the next few weeks, but I'm up and have a little time now, so here's what's new.
Nightfloat has been pretty busy so far, but bearable... I really was not looking forward to this, but I've learned a lot already, and actually feel surprisingly competent, which is pretty neat. I intubated a 32 week premie in one try without any difficulty, which is pretty sweet... although that's a bigger premie, it still gave me a little more confidence that I really can take good care of these kids at night all by myself... My first night of Night Float we had a 26 weeker born and Ryan and I put lines in probably in less than 10 minutes, which is crazy fast... it was pretty neat to resuscitate the baby and do all the stabilization with him because we never get to work with our own class, so it was pretty neat to see how far we've come since last year when we were wee interns...
I pretty much only work and sleep, but I'm off 1/2 of Wed and Thursday, so at least I can have some fun then! I went out to dinner and a movie with some friends tonight and that was fun--we saw Bride Wars and it was hilarious! Then I had basketball, which is the one thing I'm super-glad about for Night Float--at least I get to go to basketball still! Bob had a big 2-day job today, but finished it all, so he has tomorrow off too, so hopefully we'll do something fun! Unfortunately, my sleep schedule is totally flipped, so I'm still WIDE awake... I'm going to head to bed now and make myself try to sleep...
Hope you're all well and have a good rest of the week and weekend!
P.S. Another good thing about this schedule is that I do appreciate my time with Bob that much more.... I literally go DAYS without seeing him now because I leave for work before he gets home, then I get home after he's left for work! Lilo pretty much just sleeps all day with me AND all night with Bob... maybe she's narcoleptic? Seems like she should be awake at some point! :)

Blogaholic

I admit it, I'm a blogaholic. Checking all your updated blogs is totally the highlight of my day! It's so relaxing to just read what you've all been up to, see all your fun pictures, and just take a break after the busy-ness of work! So thanks for all you bloggers up there! I also love to read all the comments on my own blog, so keep up the good work there too!
Unfortunately, I am starting Night Float on Friday, which means I work 1:30pm to 7AM on Fridays, and 5pm to 7 AM Sat-Tues, with Wed and Thurs off. EW. I will be like the Cullens, up all night and not sleeping, but unlike those glorious vamps I'll be sleeping at home then heading back to work. Bummer dude. Luckily we had a fun-filled last weekend before the badness begins! We played volleyball with friends from church Fri night then the Wickhams came over and we played hand and foot, which was fun. Then Sat night we played games with the Wickhams and the Clarks, which was great fun. We're on a big Settlers kick and it's been such a good time, although Bob is usually the big winner. I did win 4 of our last 5 games together 1 on 1 though. So I'm not a total loser. :) When we play with the 6 of us though, somehow I've frequently been the losingest of all, so much so that Tamara actually said, "Oh no! I'm the Cathy of this game!" at one point when she was hopelessly losing. Ouch! We've had a lot of fun though and it makes the upcoming ominous schedule more bearable. :)
Hope you all had a great weekend and an even better upcoming week! Bob made the excellent suggestion that since the blogging/reading of blogs/Facebook/Email sucks so much of my time, I should only allow my blogaholic habit on Sundays... I don't know if I'm going to limit it to just one day, but I'm cutting back! So I'll miss you all but will still be checking them out but much less frequently this coming month!

More Christmas!

Happy New Year everyone! We knew you didn't get enough in our last post so here are EVEN more pics from our super Christmas at home....

This is Christmas morning with Bob's Grandma Zellma, Ronny, Monika, Jaiden and Kai, his parents, and us.... can you see my awesome blue camo pants his mom made Bob and I? So cute... Ronny and Monika are wearing theres from last year and the boys suits were also made by Carolyn... she's a machine!

Their tree--it's actually one we transplanted as a tiny little guy when Bob and I were first dating...

From Christmas Eve at the Shoppes at The Resort--the TINIEST camping trailer ever... too small for these guys!

Can you pick my hubby out? He blends RIGHT in with these carolers....

Downtown Coeur d'Alene... it's of course snowing here

The nativity scene inside the revolving glass door at The Resort.... it took me a lot of tries to get this pic right!

Fun with the Poteets.... this is at our lunch at the Olive Garden... Georgey was embarassed to show me his muscles and wanted his dad and Bob to do it too... how cute is that?

We played The Office DVD game with the Poteets and Mans thought her tree was a little bare, so she threw the products of our game on it! We had to make paper doll chains with 5 people all with first and last names of office characters... Mans totally won, but she did have to tape her chain together.... somehow Bob knew how to make the chain the best and his 5 people were all connected!

After Christmas--all the R2's went to Chipotle! Carson and Audrie are part of our team, right?

For Mandy especially: Here's our new setup... we're thinking we need fun new lamps for the tops of each of the side cabinets and we'll ditch the standups...

Closeup of the new center cabinet

One of the side cabinets.... they're identical so you get the idea :)

And finally, we've had some fun playing Settlers of Catan lately... I got it for Bob last Christmas, and some friends here got it AND an expansion pack (so you can play with more people) for Christmas this year, so we've played twice this week! How fun. Hope you all have a great night!
